About the role;

Planet Recruitment are proud to be working with a fast-growing organisation based in the Oxford area who are looking for a Chef de Partie

Responsibilities;

  • To check the quality of all goods purchased.
  • Ensure all food labelling is carried out as per HACCP.
  • To manage the stock rotation.
  • To run various sections of kitchen as requested/directed.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the team.
  • In liaison with the other chefs, to prepare meat, fish, soup, and vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service as directed by the Head and senior chefs.
  • To prepare sweets/ desserts/ buffets for Senior Common Room, students, and conference guests.
  • To check all food deliveries, storage, cooking, and cooling temperature policies adhere to.
  • To practice and follow all health & hygiene regulations, with attention to safe working processes, as outlined.
  • Ensure that all food produced is handled hygienically.
  • Implement date monitoring of all food, from receipt to service.
  • Ensure all HACCP procedures are in place and monitored across the site.
  • To be aware of and follow the allergy systems and procedures and be able to communicate queries on allergy contents correctly.
  • Understand the importance of serving safe food to people with allergies.
  • To undertake and support the Head Chef with any other duties as appropriate.

Essential experience;

  • Relevant professional qualifications such as City & Guilds 706 1 or 2, or NVQ, or equivalent professional experience
  • CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering or equivalent
  • Experience in working across different sections of the kitchen, preferably within a large and busy operation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an intermediate level of written and spoken English Excellent larder, pastry, and sauce skills.
  • Ability to produce a wide variety of dishes, including vegetarian.
  • Ability to work without supervision using own initiative.
  • Taking responsibility for scheduled tasks.
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Willing to work flexibly as part of the overall team.
  • A willingness to progress and develop to achieve personal goals.

Housekeeper / Cleaner

Salary; £10.50 – £12.00 per hour

Our client, a college in the City Centre are looking for a Housekeeper / Cleaner to join their housekeeping team on a temporary basis from their location in Central Oxford.

The Role;

Your role will involve making sure rooms are cleaned to a high standard by dusting, vacuuming and polishing, be able to work on your own initiative or work efficiently in a team and have a good attention to detail.

Reporting to the supervisor, the duties will include but not be limited to:

  • General Cleaning
  • Emptying Waste Bins and replacing Bin Liners
  • Toilet Cleaning
  • Sanitising the toilets and wash basins and keeping the area’s clean and tidy
  • Replenishing Toilet Tissues, Hand Towels, Soap products etc.

Mixture of shifts available and would be 30 – 40 hours per week 5 days out of 7 (including weekends).

About you;

The ideal candidate will have previous knowledge of cleaning but full training will be given.

CATERING SUPERVISOR

Position; Catering Supervisor

Location; Oxford

Salary; £28,085 per annum

The role;

To assist the Front of House Manager in the organisation and supervision of catering services, providing the highest levels of service in the Dining Hall, Senior Common Room, Bar and Cafés throughout the College both in term time and vacations.

Working hours will be any 5 days out of 7, 40 hours per week. This may include some 7am starts and some 10pm finishes.

Main responsibilities;

  • Supervise each meal period to meet agreed standards of service while maintaining all hygiene standards.
  • Make suggestions to develop service standards to meet the changing needs of the College and its customers.
  • Organise and direct each meal period so that staff are assigned according to the needs of the level of service.
  • Monitor the appearance of staff, ensure they are correctly uniformed and meet approved standards of appearance.
  • Check stocks of China, cutlery etc as directed to ensure service level requirements.
  • Lay tables, plan table assignments, prepare and set up for meal service.
  • At the end of each meal period ensure wash up is clear and all service areas are clean and tidy.
  • Assist with the service of SCR lunch and dinner in the SCR and at High Table both in and out of term.
  • Assist with events including refreshment breaks, drinks receptions and al fresco dining throughout the college and its environs.
  • Clean and polish silver, glass, and specialist service items
  • Receive deliveries checking for accuracy and quality and ensuring correct storage.
  • Despatch and record wine issues to Hall and Bar as required.
  • Select and prepare SCR wines in advance of service.
  • Implement the cleaning programme for both SCR and Arco food and beverage service areas and equipment.
  • Open and close the bar at agreed times.
  • Check fridges, back bar and bottle up as required before the bar opens.
  • Cash up tills.
  • Prepare daily takings reconciliation as directed by the steward.
  • Prepare staff rotas with the steward.
  • Ensure bar staff report for duty on time and complete signing in sheet.
  • Supervise casual bar staff throughout the shift.
  • Perform weekly pipe cleaning.
  • Maintain good stock control practice.
  • Maintain good order in cellar and stock room.
  • Ensure area behind bar is clean and prepared for service and left clean and tidy at the end of each shift.
  • Develop and adhere to cleaning schedules.
  • Receive deliveries as necessary.

About you;

If you are already working in a supervisory role and looking to progress to a larger operation, this position could suit you.

Required;

  • You must have food service experience.
  • At least 6 months experience of supervising staff
  • Good people skills
  • Spoken English to conversational standard.
  • Have the ability to organise others as well as having an approachable and outgoing personality.
