Position Summary

We’re looking for an all-rounder who has a comprehensive knowledge of Networks, with years of experience with on-premises Windows Server networks, and on-premise Exchange Servers, Active Directory & Group Policy. SQL knowledge would be a plus, as would Azure or other cloud services. General Experience with Windows 10 / Office 365 Desktop environments.

Standard IP knowledge of internal & external IP address range types is expected, along with basic subnetting & routing. We would expect that you have experience of dealing with the usual network peripherals, firewalls, routers etc. Cisco experience would be a plus.

The ability to inspire confidence in clients, meet deadlines, and be responsible for the day to-day support requirements of the clients and the network.

Excellent written & verbal communication skills are a must, with documentation of activities in our Issue Management System.

Experience Desired

  • Proven experience in a support role, ideally in a client facing environment. In-depth troubleshooting experience. – 5+ years
  • You will need to be a highly organised individual with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven experience of logging work time in a ticketing system.
  • Project management of IT with a desire to take ownership of all projects advantageous.
  • Some Networking experience desirable. Knowledge of multiple network technologies (subnetting and routing, IP, Ethernet, Switching, VPN and Firewalls etc..)

Primary Purpose

The role of Infrastructure Project Engineer is based in Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, however as clients are based UK wide, travelling is a requirement of this role. This role will offer a variety of projects and challenges with each customer being unique and expecting excellent levels of service. Projects will include, but not limited to, network refresh, wireless deployments, implementation of firewalls and other security products and migrations to Office 365.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide 1st line support to both internal and external customer via Phone, email, and Face to Face.
  • Log, monitor and respond to support calls in our helpdesk.
  • Configure new laptop/desktop setups for clients.
  • Ensure sufficient information is available to enable issues to be investigated and resolved.
  • Escalate issues to 2nd/3rd line support as appropriate.
  • Update and maintain a knowledge base to ensure future issues can be resolved quickly.
  • Supporting reception staff and users of meeting rooms to ensure smooth running or the hardware/software and Wi-Fi/network services.
  • Patching in our comms room and updating documentation.
  • Troubleshooting issues and responding to general IT requests
  • Fixing hardware issues, liaising with hardware providers for items under warranty
  • Maintain Software and Hardware Asset registers
  • Creating user accounts and performing access control
  • Keeping up to date with best practises in IT administration

Skills and Experience:

  • Any experience/knowledge of Windows OS environments advantageous
  • MSO365 experience advantageous
  • Highly organised with attention to detail required
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Comfortable working with technical and non-technical people

We’re looking for an all-rounder with experience in Windows Server networks, Exchange Server, on-premise and O365/Azure, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy. HyperV and SQL knowledge would be a plus.

General Experience with Windows 10 Desktop environments and Microsoft Office. Some iOS/Android/Mac/ Linux knowledge would be good.

An ideal candidate should have some knowledge of IP, understanding internal & external IP address range types is expected, along with basic subnetting & routing is advantageous. We would expect that you have experience of dealing with the usual network peripherals, firewalls, routers etc.
