Duties will involve carrying and delivering materials such as bricks, mortar, and other construction materials to the masons or Bricklayers on site. They are responsible for loading, unloading, and transporting materials, as well as preparing the materials for use by the masons.

QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

Position; Quality Assurance Engineer

Location; Wallingford, Oxfordshire

Salary; £40,000 – £45,000 circa

About the role;

Planet Recruitment are proud to be working with a fast-growing organisation based in the Wallingford who are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer on a permanent basis. The control of processes covering raw materials inbound and moulded components throughout the manufacturing facility. Conduct the quality inspection of supplied GRP moulded components and other critical items whilst raising and facilitating corrective actions with the relevant suppliers. Maintaining the company NCR database and supporting with the onboarding of and Integrated Management System ISO 9001/ ISO 14001.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities;

  • Maintain an acceptable inspection level on required components at goods inwards.
  • Monitor and maintain the goods Inwards QA inspection process to ensure incoming materials meet required drawings and quality standards, whilst ensuring continuity of supply to production.
  • Facilitate supplier development activities via supplier visits and audits to support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Recording of all Inspection reports and raising Service Calls
  • Reports to enable QA related issues to be clearly identified, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Review and develop task specific work instructions in conjunction with Product.
  • Development and Production support.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of shop floor.
  • Work instructions to ensure they are well maintained.
  • Supporting the Purchasing Team to collect and review supplier metrics with the target of improving supplier performance/ parts delivery into factory.
  • Feedback of quality data to production teams by means of regular meetings to include team leaders and supervisors, highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Provide information for quarterly reports on QA performance.

Essential experience;

  • Minimum of three years previous experience in similar QA role within a fast-moving production environment.
  • Professional qualifications an advantage.
  • A good standard of general education.
  • Computer literate in MS Office and Adobe software as well as SAP.
  • Experience with QMS procedures.
  • Able to read engineering drawings.
  • Problem solving skills such as 6S or 8D.
  • Understanding and experience of robust QA procedures

FINISHING TEAM LEADER

Lead and motivate a 10-person team in delivering exceptional finishing work on high-end boats, ensuring every detail exceeds client expectations. Oversee all aspects of the finishing process, manage team performance and offline metrics, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise workflow and efficiency.

Responsibilities;

  • Manage and motivate a 10-person team of boat finishing specialists, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting open communication and problem-solving.
  • Oversee all stages of the finishing process, from material procurement to final inspection, ensuring adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Manage inventory levels and prioritise tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, providing insights and recommendations from the finishing team perspective.
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards and identify potential issues proactively.
  • Proactively address any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders, finding solutions that benefit all parties involved.
  • Generate and present reports to management, highlighting areas for improvement and demonstrating team progress.
  • Track and analyse offline production data, identifying areas for improvement and cost optimisation.
  • Implement data-driven initiatives to enhance team efficiency and project profitability.
  • Reports to Composite Manager but will partner closely with Logistics and other stakeholder managers to ensure smooth material flow and project alignment.
  • Proactively address interdepartmental concerns and negotiate solutions collaboratively.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, and cost.

Essential experience;

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in boat finishing preferably with leadership responsibilities. proven experience leading and motivating production teams in a marine or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of boat construction and finishing processes would be of advantage, however automotive background or similar roles would be considered.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with effective communication skills.
  • A collaborative and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

COMPOSITES TECHNICIAN

Position; Composites Technician / Finisher

Location; Wallingford

Salary; £28,000 – £30,000 per annum

About the role;

Planet Recruitment are proud to be working with a fast-growing organisation based in the Wallingford area who are looking for a Composites Technician / Finisher. The successful candidate will be responsible for finishing of GRP mouldings for use in boat construction. Trimming, preparation, polishing, gel coat repairs and assembly of moulded components.

Responsibilities;

  • Checking and identifying defects requiring rework
  • Repair to gel coat surfaces to remove imperfections/ joint lines from split mould tools.
  • Fairing of surfaces
  • Polishing of gel coat surfaces to achieve high level of surface finish.
  • Trimming of GRP components using air saws, routers and diamond cutting discs, if required
  • Sanding and finishing of cut edges using abrasives papers.
  • Maintain and promote high standards of workmanship.
  • Assist in other areas of the manufacturing process as directed by the Team Leader for this section.
  • Assist in the training of personnel including new production operatives as and when required.
  • Basic Housekeeping duties, including maintaining a tidy workstation and working area.
  • Be accountable for your own work.
  • Correct use of PPE.
  • Uphold company HSE standards and report any shortfalls.

Essential experience;

  • Previous experience of finishing GRP or paint finishes/ detailing.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Good team player being able to work independently or as part of a team when necessary.
  • Able to work to deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Previous experience of working within the Marine industry or similar high quality driven industry advantageous but not essential.

Working within the Technical Department, responsible for delivering Specialised Cleaning Services to all customers. Performing duties assigned by a member of the management team, safely, efficiently and in accordance with instructions issued and Company / site procedures focusing on high standards of customer service at all times.

Responsibilities;

  • Wearing appropriate PPE/RPE, undertake a variety of high-level deep-cleaning, tank cleaning, site decontamination including emergency response and decommissioning projects which will involve confined-space entry, high-pressure water jetting, working at height and handling and or removal of hazardous/chemical/biological materials.
  • Utilising a variety of tools to remove hazardous/biological materials whilst always working in a safe manner in accordance with risk assessments and operating procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures including health and safety and employment.
  • Assisting line management in the development of and adherence to procedures to ensure safety, health, environmental and quality standards are maintained.
  • Co-operating with line management in promoting safety, health, environmental and quality awareness with workface personnel, contractors, and visitors.
  • Comply with the conditions of site permit to work systems.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping on site.
  • Reporting faults on plant, equipment and PPE /RPE.
  • Assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of plant.
  • Participating in training as appropriate.
  • Participating in pre-job risk assessments when required.
  • Participating in the Emergency Response / duty rota system.
  • When directed report to the Hazardous Waste Transfer Station management team for alternative duties.
  • Completion and submission of relevant paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion, working in conjunction with technical operations to ensure compliance.
  • Play an active part in the cleaning and restocking of vehicles after use.
  • Play an active part in the upkeep and storage of all tools and consumables.
  • Packaging and collecting waste as directed.
  • Any other duties, such as ad hoc projects, as requested by the job holder’s Manager/Supervisor or the Board of Directors that are within the skills and capabilities of the job holder.

Essential experience;

  • Full driving licence
  • A background in industrial cleaning activities is not essential as full training will be provided.
