The 1st Line Support Engineer is responsible for assisting the IT Service Desk Team Lead in delivering a first-class support service to the networked and roaming associates of the client. Acting primarily in a 1st line support capacity, resolving issues in person, over the phone or via remote connectivity. The role is varied and requires a real team player who can manage their time efficiently and prioritise or escalate technical issues to ensure a prompt closure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring of the Incident Management system.
  • Constant monitoring of any unclaimed tickets and change requests to ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide 1st line technical support to all the clients UK offices.
  • Take ownership and respond to all tickets with urgency.
  • Escalate more complex tickets when required.
  • Assist with the ongoing management of the Hardware Asset Register.
  • Ensure Active Directory for Users & Computers management is up to date and in line with departmental process.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a similar IT support role with end user facing responsibilities, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • First line support experience or similar.
  • Previous experience of ticket logging systems and remote support tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products and operating system (Windows Server & Windows 10)
  • Personal resilience including skills in working in challenging situations.
  • Able to adapt own approach and style to the situation at the time.

Our client is looking for and enthusiastic and motivated ICT Consultant who has a real flair for technology mixed with a passion for providing exemplary service to our customers to join our expanding team.

The successful candidate will ideally be centrally based as they will be supporting schools in the Hackney, Westminster, Croydon, and Greenwich areas maintaining all IT hardware and services across the school sites as well as helping the schools improve the standard of their ICT provisions and enable them to deliver effective teaching and learning through ICT solutions.

You will facilitate communication between your school and client keeping them up to date with what services the client can offer and manage the accounts of your customers. You will be skilled in maintaining school computer equipment, installing new and existing software across the network, provide technical support for users and resolve identified technical problems. You will also have good knowledge of common user applications and good experience of using Microsoft Office365.

The ideal candidate will ideally have at least 2 years’ experience in working in a previous ICT Technician preferably in the education sector although not essential. You will be passionate about IT with a strong technical background, be self-motivated and enjoy providing excellent customer service. This role requires you to be a team player, have strong communication and organisation skills along with a courteous manner with the ability to explain technical issues in layman’s terms to our customers.

You should be able to work independently and have an aptitude for problem solving and a proactive approach to identifying ways to improve services provided by your team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Resolve and manage any technical issues that impacts the running of the school’s function by providing robust technical solutions
  • Installation or repair of computers with standardised applications and networking software, diagnosing, and solving problems that develop in their operations.
  • Respond to a wide range of technical duties associated with the computer network and desktop services, primarily in connection with existing installations and upgrading of these installations. (Desktop computers, iPads, printers, telephones, scanners, projectors, pa equipment, AV lecterns and hardware)

The role is offered on a full-time, full year basis and successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks.

The IT officer’s role is to provide customer-focused front line IT support to staff, students, and visitors to the College. This will involve working both within the IT team, under the direction of the IT Manager, and independently in day-to-day activities.

Responibilites

As part of the IT team, you would undertake day to day staffing of the IT office, working with the team to ensure that user requests and incidents are assessed and handled in a timely fashion and escalated as appropriate.

The main duties involve solving users’ problems, providing advice and guidance, supporting AV equipment in meeting rooms and carrying out office administration.

IT support

  • To work within the IT team in the day-to-day activities during core hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30, although some degree of flexibility on hours would be possible).
  • Provide first and second line user support for hardware and software via telephone, email or in person and ensure queries are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • To advise students and staff about problems relating to their own equipment where possible.
  • Maintain antivirus software and deal with malware and virus infections promptly.

  • Assist the IT Manager with other tasks such as network management, software deployment or access control as needed.

AV support

  • To help with setting up computers, cameras, and projectors for use in meeting rooms
  • To provide guidance to staff and visitors on using AV equipment.
  • Perform testing and maintenance of AV equipment prior to use

Skills required

  • Good working knowledge of desktop and laptop computers running Windows and Mac operating systems, and common application packages including Microsoft Office.
  • Good knowledge of wired and wireless network connections and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Windows servers and Active Directory

While this specific role doesn’t necessarily require more advanced skills, knowledge of any of the following would be useful within the team for specific projects:

  • Database administration (SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Python/PowerShell, for developing and extending internal tools and scripts within the team.
  • Automation tools such as MDT and Ansible.
  • Knowledge of AV systems, particularly Extron.

Primary Purpose
