Primary Purpose

Delivering at least four projects every month, sometimes more for our client base. This typically comprises three days of paid support work, one day for an SOW, and one day a week for training and administrative work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead role in project delivery
  • Work with other departments, ensuring that everyone is kept up to date pre/during/post project work
  • Work alongside the department PM to work within created project plan
  • Create a detailed Scope of Work document in line with the project proposal
  • Raising concerns and SOW creep
  • Ability to be agile during project works should issue arise
  • Strong communicator both verbally and written to both internal departments and the wider client base

Project execution: Projects to be kept to time sold and any scope creep or extra days to be clarified/signed off. Engineer to complete 14 days of project work per month – Projects to be delivered within spec (time, scope etc). Any extra days/changes to be agreed by manager.

Training: 2 days per month (on average) dedicated to training. Azure/MS/sophos – to be confirmed on monthly one to ones – All accreditations are to be completed within the suggested individual timescales certification dependent.

Demonstrate Processes are being followed -Admin on projects: All tickets to be keep up to date on a daily basis (time and notes added). Updates to customers at the end of each day. Any issues, scope creep to be raised with PS manager straight away – Demonstrating Communication, time tracking, Clear and detailed SOW documentation across all projects

Project feedback from stakeholders (internal and external): feedback from customer surveys relayed back to engineer on monthly catch ups. Also feedback from AM catch ups – what can be improved on? – Demonstrate where you have gone above and beyond

Handovers – SOW doc: Scope of works to be completed in the time frame given. If extra discovery is needed it needs to be highlighted at internal handover. End -of-project handovers need to be completed to the Planet internal team or the customer (customer type depending) Only at this point can the project be signed off

Non negotiable

  • Previous experience as a Project engineer in an MSP environment

In-depth knowledge of ADDS, green site deployment of ADDS, multisite deployments, excellent grasp of group policies

Experience with Microsoft Windows RDS

Previous Experience with Sophos and Fortinet products


  • Microsoft – Office 365 – Experience with hybrid migrations, ideally being the technical lead on the project(s) * Experience of Intune Deployments
  • Experience with “bare metal” configuration and installation of Firewalls and Switches (Sophos, Dell, HP, and Fortinet)
  • Experience working with cloud technologies- Azure or AWS
  • Virtualisation Experience- VMware and Hyper V, bare metal deployments of ESXI hosts are essential with vSAN and Physical SAN
  • Microsoft Core Services – AD, DNS, DHCP (Migration and Maintenance)
