Role – IT Technician

Day rate- £150-£200 per day

Location – Ascot

Duration – 3 Months

Our client is looking for an IT engineer to come in onsite to help provide support to the day to day and support to the events that are placed onsite. The client hosts large social events all year round that are talked about and viewed all over the country. This role offers a lot of exposure to new technologies

ROLE

This position will have a key role in the day-to-day support of the clients Tech helpdesk, which services approximately 200 users and covers all areas of Technology for the site. There will be involvement in Technology projects in line with the changing needs of the business. There is no line management or budgetary responsibility included in this role. Support Technician

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a consistently high quality and professional customer service to the client’s business in all areas of Technology.
  • Be the first point of contact for general support and monitor, respond, resolve & document Tech helpdesk tickets.
  • Own day to day functions within the Tech Helpdesk (including but not limited to):

➢ Set up and administration of user accounts.

➢ Asset management including upkeep of the Technology asset database

➢ Set up, distribution and maintenance of all user hardware devices

➢ Configuration and deployment of company software applications

➢ Liaise with 3rd parties to maintain, troubleshoot, and fix issues with company assets.

➢ Installation and troubleshooting of site wide resources.

  • Participate in major Technology projects and own relevant project tasks.
  • Support senior members of the Technology team
  • Produce and maintain concise documentation on systems and procedures for the benefit of the Technology team and client’s employees.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined team.
  • Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer or similar
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues relevant to the role
  • Able to administer Active Directory to a good level
  • Ability to work under pressure in customer facing scenarios
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance

Our client requires Vehicle Technicians to work on their site carrying out diagnostic and re-work of motor vehicles.

Working hours will be 7am – 5pm Monday to Friday with overtime available & weekends.

Interim IT Manager

Network Infrastructure & Security

Delivery of a Department IT network that is fast, efficient, reliable, and protected from reasonable risks:

  • Plan and lead improvement projects to network services to ensure that these services can support current and future demands placed on it.
  • Ensure that all Department firewall security policies satisfy current Department and University security needs. Ensure that the firewalls are capable of Department workloads and keep an active review on developments in best practice and new threats.
  • Ensure all Department devices are up to date with effective protections and monitor the appropriateness of current malware and virus-related policies. As well as removal of such threats, monitor and make efforts to reduce the level of infections keeping abreast of external developments and recommendations, particularly those that are published by the University OxCert team. Including attending University security briefings. Through pen testing and other methodologies, identify and resolve security issues in Department IT systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure that the Department’s InfoSec policy is applied throughout all areas of the Department. Where policy needs reviewing according to new and developing areas of threat and best practises, identify changes, and prepare policy for approval.

Services Infrastructure and Support

Take the lead role in the design, procurement, selection, installation and configuration of Department and research project IT infrastructure and systems to support the services required by the Department and research projects, with appropriate security, resilience, and backup. This includes, but not exclusively:

  • Identify business and user requirements, including opportunities for new or enhanced services. And research the most cost-effective solutions that fit the needs of the service whilst balancing the capital cost of implementation with recurrent support or utilisation costs.
  • Act as a lead in the development and deployment of automated systems for the
    management, maintenance, and enhancement of IT infrastructure and services including writing scripts, where appropriate.
  • Assess new technologies and services and their use in the context of Department
  • Identify key trends, looking both toward the university and the wider world to direct
    the development of systems

Planning and Management

  • Working with other stakeholders in the Department to understand available resources and requirements. Identify, evaluate, lead, and deliver projects from start to finish working with a variety of different end users.
  • Work with and encourage collaborative working with IT staff within Social Science Division and the wider collegiate university to deliver shared projects, and to ensure that economies of scale are utilised where appropriate.
  • Identify external trends, and their respective applications to create and present IT strategy and objectives to actively create and maintain plans for future Department infrastructure and services within the Department.
  • Purchase services and hardware on behalf of the Department within budgetary constraints. Make recommendations and, in collaboration with Finance, draft the IT budget. Identify financial efficiency savings relating to IT for the Department and research projects.
  • Work to plan projects, and budgets, ensuring that services are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure best cost efficiency for the Department.
  • Be an active member of the Department’s IT committee which is responsible for ensuring appropriate governance and prioritisation of IT activities and projects. Deputise as chair when required for committee meetings.

Service desk and hardware support

Essential selection criteria

  • Significant experience in an IT System Administrator role.
  • Broad experience administering a network with an understanding of modern best practice regards configuration and security management.
  • Sound working knowledge of all Microsoft Server operating systems (Server and Desktop).
  • Experience administrating Linux (Ubuntu) and MySQL-based applications.
  • Administrative experience of a Hyper-V (or equivalent) virtualised server environment.
  • Experience with Palo Alto (or similar) Firewall configurations.
  • Experience in maintaining resilient and secure web services (e.g., SSL certification).
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, SQL, DHCP, Radius (NPS) and Group Policy administration.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of PowerShell.

We require Quality Inspectors for our client near Abingdon in Oxfordshire. You will be responsible for Operating CMM equipment (specifically Faro with Polyworks).

Main responsibilities;

  • Understand 3D CAD models and manipulate where needed for CMM measurement purposes.
  • Perform goods-in visual and mechanical inspection where required.
  • Use basic mechanical measurement equipment, verniers, micrometers, slips, pins, height gauges, thread gauges, DTIs etc.
  • Operate CMM equipment (specifically Faro with Polyworks).
  • Create CMM programs for inspection of parts and tooling against engineering and customer specifications and drawings.
  • Verify measurements where required, using alternative methods.
  • Create ISIRs and FAIRs.
  • Read and interpret supplier ISIRs and FAIRs.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Substantial Quality experience within a similar, regulated manufacturing environment
  • Confident using a wide range of inspection measuring equipment
  • Strong understanding of the implications of highly regulated Quality Management Systems

Desirable:

  • ISO 14001, ISO 18001, AD Merkblatt AD2000-HP0, Pressure Equipment Directive
  • Welding technologies – Mig and Tig (particularly Stainless Steel and Aluminium Alloys)

The role;

Previous quality engineering and/or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment to include raw material, stamping, fabrications and assembly of detail components.

Main responsibilities;

  • Provide immediate rapid support for urgent gaps in supply impacting line stops
  • Responsible for implementing solutions and process improvements for supplier issues to ensure on-time delivery. Solutions to issues such as the coordination of shipments, sub-process suppliers and technical assistance to ensure on-time delivery and to identify root causes that impacts on-time delivery.
  • Lead Deep Dives to support programmes in resolving major issues and mitigating major risks.
  • Create Action Plan with relevant stakeholders to manage ECA (Emergency Corrective Actions), ICA (Interim Corrective Actions) and PCA (Permanent Corrective Actions) as appropriate.
  • Implements process improvements and deploy delivery assurance system to ensure early identification of shortages.
  • Manages delivery assurance processes and / or works to achieve day-to-day delivery assurance objectives.
  • Ensure that agreed KPIs for measurement of programme health are being appropriately collated and reported upon.
  • Collaborates with other departments (Quality, Buyers, Planning and Supplier Performance) as necessary with regard to meeting customer requirements, minimizing negative impacts on a business in the case of shortages.
  • Ensure that all participants and stakeholders are appropriately informed, involved and have visibility throughout each review period by use of a A3 style reporting summary
  • Reporting on Delivery Assurance status and progress, making sure tools are fit for purpose and documentation is up-to-date.
  • Ensures timely delivery of all materials required for the production of assigned complex components.
  • Tracks and manages Supplier work in process (WIP), promise dating, expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery and flow.

Required;

  • Essential : M/CIPS Diploma Certificate (Level 6) or equivalent qualifications in other disciplines
  • Desirable: Six Sigma Black Belt certified
  • A key expertise in Supply Chain Performance: Project management, planning, procurement, inventory and score card management would be a highlight candidate.
