Test and Inspection Manager

Client:

Our client are a highly experienced manufacturer who boast over 50 years experience in the design, manufacture, test, install, commissioning and maintenance of high-voltage sub-station protection and control equipment.

Responsibilities;

Goods Receipt Inspection

  • Check paint/fabrication of bought out panels to works instruction and relevant engineering drawings.
  • Check contact positions of switches to special order documentation and sketches.
  • Check bought out mimic panels for dimension and layout to relevant drawings.
  • Checking of any specialist bought out equipment.

Mechanical Inspection

  • Check tightness of fixings on assembled items.
  • Check layout of equipment to relevant engineering drawings and parts list.
  • Check fitting of labels to relevant engineering drawings and diagrams.

Electrical Inspection

  • Point to point wire check. Checking position, number and colour of connections.
  • Check contact position of switches.
  • Check colour, rating and fitment of fuse/links.
  • Check correct relays and instruments are fitted.
  • Check tightness of connections and security of wiring.
  • Insulation checks of wiring using 500V meggers and 0 – 5kV insulation testers.
  • High voltage insulation tests on pilot wire protection circuits up to 15kV.
  • High voltage insulation tests on bushing type insulators and outdoor circuit breakers using 0 – 100kV insulation tester.

Function Testing

  • Testing operation of relays/instruments using secondary injection test sets, voltage sources and measuring instruments.
  • Testing contact operation of relays using simulators and continuity tester.
  • Checking/testing functionality of circuits using schematic diagrams.
  • Programming of relays to supplied documentation or schematic diagrams.

Contacts

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager.
  • Liaise with all other departments to complete the job.
  • Liaise with suppliers.
  • Liaise with customers/demonstration of functional testing and factory acceptance tests.

Documentation

  • Raising test documentation. (Product inspection progress/fault sheets and standard test specification).
  • Raising goods return documentation for rejected products.
  • Raising warehouse acceptance documentation.
  • Checking correct drawings are issued to works instruction and correct testing procedure is carried out.
  • Raising test certification.
  • Raising special test documentation.

Vehicle Technician

Position; VEHICLE TECHNICIAN

Location; Chichester

Salary; £20 per hour inside IR35

Our client requires Vehicle Technicians to work on their site carrying out diagnostic and re-work of motor vehicles.

Working hours will rotating shifts 6am-2pm one week then 2pm – 10pm the next.

Main responsibilities;

  • Using latest diagnostic equipment to fault find on required vehicles
  • Checks and repairs.
  • Experience in carrying out diagnostic and service repairs
  • Systematic and organised individual who pays attention to the smaller details
  • Complete all required paperwork required with each job

About you;

Applicants must have a flexible approach to work with a meticulous attention to detail.

Required;

  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage other technicians when required
  • Experience in carrying out diagnostic and service repairs
  • Full Uk Driving licence

About the role;

Planet Recruitment are proud to be working with a fast-growing organisation based in the Wallingford area who are looking for a Finishing Team Leader on a permanent basis.

Lead and motivate a 10-person team in delivering exceptional finishing work on high-end boats, ensuring every detail exceeds client expectations. Oversee all aspects of the finishing process, manage team performance and offline metrics, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise workflow and efficiency.

Responsibilities;

  • Manage and motivate a 10-person team of boat finishing specialists, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting open communication and problem-solving.
  • Oversee all stages of the finishing process, from material procurement to final inspection, ensuring adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Manage inventory levels and prioritise tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, providing insights and recommendations from the finishing team perspective.
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards and identify potential issues proactively.
  • Proactively address any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders, finding solutions that benefit all parties involved.
  • Generate and present reports to management, highlighting areas for improvement and demonstrating team progress.
  • Track and analyse offline production data, identifying areas for improvement and cost optimisation.
  • Implement data-driven initiatives to enhance team efficiency and project profitability.
  • Reports to Composite Manager but will partner closely with Logistics and other stakeholder managers to ensure smooth material flow and project alignment.
  • Proactively address interdepartmental concerns and negotiate solutions collaboratively.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, and cost.

Essential experience;

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in boat finishing preferably with leadership responsibilities. proven experience leading and motivating production teams in a marine or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of boat construction and finishing processes would be of advantage, however automotive background or similar roles would be considered.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with effective communication skills.
  • A collaborative and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
