We are recruiting for a Wireless Support engineer for highly rated IT reseller based in Oxford. This role is to proactively and consistently monitor, respond, and report on the network health for network customers. As part of this, you will also provide first-line support and troubleshooting for network issues that are raised by means of alerts or support tickets.

This role will also play a big part in customer satisfaction and retention. You will work with the wider team (sales, technical, and support) to ensure we consistently deliver an exceptional Network offering to our customers.

The Role

  • Onboard new customers and deploy Auvik network monitoring software in their environment.
  • Assist with tailoring the set-up of Auvik to suit the customer’s environment.
  • Respond to critical alerts received from Auvik by contacting the customer immediately and starting the troubleshooting process.
  • Proactively monitor the health of Network customers’ WLAN and LAN platforms (device health, updates, new features etc) and discuss any updates that need to occur for optimal network health.
  • Work closely with the Head of Technical when reviewing the customers data and assist with recommendations.
  • Work closely with the Support team to assist with any active tickets for Network customers and escalate if necessary.
  • At the end of the month, compile appropriate information for the customers’ monthly/quarterly Network report.
  • Generate excitement for the company’s other products/services/solutions that the customer doesn’t have (find upsell opportunities organically through the strong relationship you have with customers).
  • Be the voice of the customer within the company and share feedback with the wider team so we can continue to review and refine how we support, sell, market and deliver to our customers.
  • Keep ahead of industry developments and apply best practices to areas of improvement.

Key Tasks

  1. ICT Support Service on-site
  • Ensure a consistent ICT support service is delivered to the school/centre. Establish and maintain high quality learning facilities and assist in planning their future development.

This is a very exciting role working on a project with The University of Oxford upgrading their Wi-Fi access points. You will be involved with the upgrade Wi-Fi project and have a great opportunity to gain some valuable experience.

Interest in starting a career in wireless networking. The Junior Wireless Engineer will be responsible for scaling/measuring customer buildings and performing Radio Frequency surveys.

The successful candidate must have a good general knowledge of IT, will be trained to use Wi-Fi surveying tools and will need to be able to work at height. The job involves manual handling of physical equipment, Health & Safety training will be provided. The Junior Wireless Engineer must have a good attention to detail and to be able to follow procedures accurately.

Key tasks include, but not limited to:
* Performing RF surveys on-site using Ekahau software;
* Picking, labelling and packing Wi-Fi access points ready for installation;
* To help basic installation of an Wi-Fi access points (if required);

Oxfordshire IT Company is looking for a dynamic ICT Support technician to join its team in the Witney, Oxfordshire area.

Successful candidates will be exceptional communicators who excel at working within a team and also when working with end users. Successful candidates must undergo an enhanced DBS Check and ideally have a full UK driving license.

In this role, you will work closely with the support and engineering department and may also include visits to customer sites.

Responsibilities and Duties

The primary responsibility of the role is to help maintain a high level of support for the company’s customers – This will mostly involve working from the office on the ICT support desk with a possible remote option. However, there may be times when you need to visit customer sites.

While on support you will be expected to undertake tasks such as:

  • Answering the support phone line and responding to customer emails.
  • The remote monitoring, diagnosis and fix of various ICT System issues.
  • Doing day-to-day tasks for customers, including updating anti-virus systems and applying windows updates.
  • Generating reports for customers.
  • Handling of hardware support requests by arranging replacements or repairs for customers.
  • Help manage (open, close, update) Service Desk tickets as they are added and be able to prioritise issues and escalate where required.
  • Working effectively with 3rd line Engineers to help resolve customer issues.

Technical competencies we are looking for (not everything below is essential, however the more that can be demonstrated the better):

  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server (2016-2022)
  • Installation and configuration of Windows Server roles and services (DHCP, DNS, DFS, RDS)
  • Experience of Office 365 deployments, migrations, and management
  • Virtualisation – Good understanding of virtualization with good experience with installing and managing Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Excellent experience of PC deployment, particularly the use of the SCCM, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and WDS to build and deploy images
  • AD – installation, configuration, and management of Local and Azure Active Directory and Group Policy
  • High level knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, especially Windows 10 & 11
  • Networking – Ability to configure a wide range of networking hardware. Experience with HP/Aruba Provision switches is advantageous

Our client is looking for a IT Engineer based on a client site to work as part of our managed service team.

Key Tasks

ICT Support Service on-site

  • Under the guidance of the Network Manager: Provide specialist ICT support that ensures the school/centre establishes and maintains high quality learning facilities.
  • Use specialist skills/training/experience to support school/centre’s staff & pupils ICT requirements.
  • Maintenance of specialist equipment, check for quality/safety, undertake specialist repairs/modifications within own capabilities and arrange for other repairs/modifications to be carried out by others.
  • Demonstrate and assist in the safe and effective use of specialist equipment/materials.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance as required to School/Centre.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) technical information at an appropriate level, and in a suitable style, having assessed the audience.
  • Implement agreed work programmes/practices under the guidance of Senior Staff.
  • Monitor and manage stock within an agreed budget, cataloguing resources and undertaking audits as required.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • To be aware of the school/centre’s responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 1984 for the security, accuracy and relevance of personal data held on such systems and ensure that all administrative and financial processes comply with this.

Technical Expertise

  • Connect up and check hardware for normal operation.
  • Set up a suitable desktop environment for users of a standalone or networked PC.

  • Install simple software applications as required.
  • Perform basic set up and checking of networked PCs.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks for user accounts.
  • Use simple utilities to change information on the intranet.
  • Follow instructions to run basic network monitoring reports or utilities

Processes

  • Follow an acceptance test procedure on new ICT equipment and report results appropriately.
  • Update records of installed hardware and software.
  • Maintain a software library and store original copies of installed applications.
  • Transfer and transportation of IT Equipment to required areas or rooms within the site.
  • Follow processes and tasks described in school’s disaster recovery and maintenance plans.
  • Follow instructions to implement school backup and virus protection procedures.
  • Record requests accurately in a support log. Retrieve details of previous requests if an enquiry is made.
  • Investigate a request for support, record diagnostic information and either resolve or escalate to the appropriate level.
  • Record the time spent on tasks and compare to expectation/allocation as appropriate.

Other

  • Actively monitor school, LEA/LA and legal responsibilities.
  • Develop relevant H&S procedures and ensure that all ICT users follow appropriate practice.
  • Ability to self-regulate
  • Any other tasks that the Technical Management Team, or the Company Directors feel are appropriate
